WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has praised the Pakistani leadership for the US-Iran talks in Islamabad.

Trump said that these talks were made possible by the effective leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The US President described the Pakistani leadership as exceptional and appreciated their efforts. He said that the Pakistani leadership has been thanking them for their role in preventing a possible major war with India in which millions of lives could have been lost.

According to Trump, the talks with Iran began early in the morning and continued for about 20 hours, during which progress was made on many points.

However, he clarified that the most important issue is Iran’s nuclear program, on which no final agreement could be reached.

President Trump said that Iran is not ready to give up its nuclear ambitions and this is the main obstacle because it is unacceptable for such an unpredictable country to have nuclear power.
