DUBAI: Public and private schools have been announced to close from March 9, which will continue until March 22.

According to details, the UAE government has announced a spring break for all schools and universities a week ahead of schedule, in view of the current situation in the country and regional security.

A joint statement by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education said that all public and private schools will close from March 9, which will continue until March 22.

This important decision has been made in the context of the recent aggression by Iran and the state of emergency in the country.

Earlier, the authorities had directed distance learning in all educational institutions until March 6 (Friday), however, now students will complete their online classes this weekend and go on spring break.

In this regard, the Emirati Department of Education has issued formal instructions to all educational institutions to ensure immediate implementation of the decision on the holidays.

The application of the spring break will not be limited to schools, but universities in the UAE will also be included in these holidays.

Academic activities and classes will resume regularly in all educational institutions from Monday, March 23.

Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesperson for the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, clarified in a media briefing that the government’s top priority is to provide a safe and stable environment for students. We are ensuring that students’ education is not affected even in the current circumstances, which is why remote learning and now early holidays have been decided.

It should be remembered that according to the official calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year, the spring break was supposed to start on March 16, however, due to emergency circumstances, it has been moved a week earlier.
