Electric Bike Scheme
LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a new plan to provide electric bikes to teachers on easy installments without interest under the e-bike scheme. The monthly installments under this scheme are expected to be around Rs 3,600 to Rs 4,200.
According to the details, the government has decided to launch the e-bike scheme with the aim of improving travel facilities for teachers across the province and reducing their transport costs. This initiative is also being described as an important step towards promoting environment-friendly transport.
The estimated cost of each electric bike under the scheme will be between Rs 200,000 and Rs 250,000. The Punjab government will bear 30 to 40 percent of the total cost in the form of subsidy, while the teachers will pay the remaining amount in easy installments over a period of two to three years. According to officials, this scheme has been designed to provide financial relief to teachers who face daily transportation problems.
The monthly installments under the interest-free scheme are likely to be between Rs 3,600 and Rs 4,200, making it an affordable facility for teachers in government schools. Officials believe that the e-bike scheme will significantly reduce transport-related expenses and make it easier for teachers, especially in remote and semi-urban areas, to reach their educational institutions.
Applications for the e-bike scheme will soon be received online through the Punjab Teachers Foundation website. Eligible teachers will have to submit their identity card, service certificate, valid driving license and passport-sized photograph.
After submitting the application, candidates will be able to download the confirmation slip, while the final eligibility will be communicated through SMS or email. According to the government, the e-bike scheme will be implemented in a phased manner after the registration process is completed.
Officials say that the scheme is part of the government’s broader efforts to support teachers and promote modern travel facilities in the education department.
