ISLAMABAD: Chicken meat is one of the most consumed meats in Pakistan. The demand for poultry remains high throughout the year, as it is widely used in all kinds of dishes.

Recently, broiler chicken prices have come down marginally in both Peshawar and Lahore markets, providing some relief to consumers after the previous price hike.

Broiler meat prices have come down significantly in Lahore by Rs 15 per kg. Currently, the retail price of broiler chicken meat is Rs 580 per kg, while the wholesale price of live broiler meat is Rs 370 per kg.

Similarly, in Peshawar, prices have decreased during the last two days. The price of live broiler chicken was earlier Rs 450 per kg; now its price has come down by Rs 30 to Rs 420 per kg.

Despite the fall in poultry prices, egg prices have seen a marginal increase, with an increase of Rs 2 per dozen to the current price of Rs 239.

Meanwhile, in response to rising broiler chicken prices, the Punjab Food Ministry has banned the export of chicks. The move is aimed at curbing further price hikes in the market.

Reports suggest that the Livestock Department has prepared a proposal for the ban, which has been submitted to the Punjab government for review and consideration.

Earlier the Punjab Food Ministry has now announced a ban on the export of chicks while taking measures to deal with the increasing prices of broiler chicken.

As per reports, the Livestock Department has prepared a proposal for the ban, which has been sent to the Punjab government for further consideration.
