ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani economy faced higher inflation rates because essential goods prices grew during the last week, which made it harder for consumers who already faced higher living expenses.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics published its weekly report, which showed that weekly inflation went up by 0.79 percent while annual inflation reached 15.16 percent.
The report showed that during week 22, essential items experienced price increases, while 14 items became cheaper and 15 items kept their prices unchanged.
Chicken prices experienced the highest price increase, which rose by Rs48.40 per kilogram during the week. A 20-kilogram flour bag now costs Rs74.75 more than its previous price.
The price of diesel increased by Rs19.47 per litre, while petrol prices saw a Rs6.56 per litre increase, which made fuel prices a major contributor to inflation.
The prices of yogurt, milk, and beef increased through their respective price rises of Rs4 per kilogram, Rs2.77 per litre, and Rs8.03 per kilogram.
The statistics report showed that mutton prices and potato prices, tea prices, banana prices, cooking oil prices, powdered milk prices, and cigarette prices all increased during the week.
The prices of tomatoes, garlic, eggs, red lentils, onions, and mash pulses showed a price decrease when compared to their prices from the previous week.
The Bureau of Statistics reported that chicken prices and petroleum product prices, crude oil prices, and flour prices all contributed to the increase in weekly inflation rates.
The increasing expenses for fresh milk, meat and mutton and potatoes created additional financial difficulties for households throughout the country.
