Chicken prices surge across Lahore

Public forced to buy chicken on high prices despite govt's set rates

LAHORE: The chicken prices in Lahore experienced a constant increase throughout the previous week. The increase in prices created difficulties for citizens while it drove inflation rates to higher levels.

Market sources reported a fresh Rs. 7 hike in broiler chicken meat. The price reached Rs. 540 per kilogram because of the increase. The prices throughout the week increased by Rs. 36 per kilogram.

The city experienced an increase in live broiler chicken prices, which followed the same pattern. The current price of broiler chickens stands at Rs. 345 per kilogram according to farm prices.

The current wholesale price of the product reached Rs. 359 per kilogram. The product’s retail price reached Rs. 373 per kilogram. Farm eggs experienced price increases.

The traders established an egg price of Rs. 246 per dozen. The price increase created additional financial stress for householders. Market traders provided explanations about the reasons behind the price increase.

The traders observed that market demand maintained its current level. The prices increased because of the rising feed and transport costs. Price increases occurred in all poultry products throughout Lahore because of these cost pressures.

The public demanded that the government take control of the situation. The authorities faced requests to implement immediate price controls.

The continuous price increases for chicken and egg products made it difficult for families to afford food according to their statement.
