LAHORE: The city administration has announced a significant reduction in the prices of bakery bread, commonly called double roti, in the Punjab capital amid falling wheat prices.
Deputy Commissioner Raifa Haider said that the price of 750 grams of bread has been fixed at Rs 180 because earlier it was sold at Rs 220 to 230 in Lahore.
He said that the price of small size or 400-gram roti has been increased to Rs 90, adding that the new prices will be implemented immediately.
Due to the decrease in the prices of wheat, the prices of various commodities were observed to decrease. Recently, the provincial government reduced the price of tandoori roti to Rs 15 per roti.

Meanwhile, the Utility Stores Corporation has announced another reduction in the price of ghee from Tuesday, May 28.
After the reduction of Rs 18, the new subsidized price of ghee will be Rs 375 per kg, while the price of non-subsidized ghee will be Rs 445 per kg.
Families registered under the Benazir Income Support Program will now get ghee at Rs 375 per kg, while ordinary consumers will buy it at Rs 445 per kg.
