ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council Dr.Raghib Hussain Naeemi has announced the minimum Fitrana to be Rs220 per person, based on wheat costs.

However, if you want to donate with other food items like dates, raisins, or dried apricots, you must pay different amounts of Rs1,650 for dates, Rs2,500 for raisins, and Rs5,000 for dried apricots.

It is also important to note that Fitrana and Fidya are contributions according to the given capability, and Fitrana is the obligatory charity that is cast upon every Muslim.

In addition, the council made a provision on the amount to be compensated as Fidya based on the staple; the total compensation for thirty missed fasts would range from Rs6,600 for wheat to Rs150,000 for dried apricots.

In addition, Naeemi said that a person who breaks his fast intentionally will have to pay the penalty of fasting for sixty consecutive days or give two meals each to sixty poor people.

Contrary to this, if you buy government flour, you will find Fitrana and Fidya lowered to Rs160 only.
