LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to launch a Solar Panel Financing Scheme on August 14 under which solar panels will be distributed to the citizens consuming up to 500 units in easy installments.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the Solar Panel Financing Scheme on Saturday. During the meeting, Secretary Energy Naeem Rauf provided a detailed briefing on the free solar panel scheme.

CM Maryam ordered the simplification of the solar panel financing scheme and directed the completion of necessary actions for its launch.  The Punjab govt has initiated a test run of the scheme under a pilot project.

According to the details, the performance and readings of installed solar panel systems will be monitored online via the Solar PV App.

Under the scheme, households consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month will be eligible for free solar systems. The government will cover all expenses, including the cost of the solar systems and their installation.

Who can apply Punjab Solar Panel Scheme?

The government will provide free solar systems to households consuming up to 100 units of electricity per month. Those who have been involved in electricity theft, meter tampering, and other illegal activities will not be eligible for the scheme.

To check eligibility, citizens can send their bill reference number and CNIC number to 8800. Eligible families can register with the scheme through SMS and they are required to send their bill reference number and CNIC to 8800.

The data of families consuming up to 100 units per month will be sent to the National Telecommunication. The NTC will later forward the data to the Punjab Information Technology Board after verification.
