KARACHI: A citizen in Karachi bought clothes online from the well-known brand Maria B, but surprisingly, he received a sack of flour instead of clothes.

The consumer filed a complaint in the Consumer Court against the brand and the courier company and the court has issued a notice to the parties to submit a response.

A citizen residing in Karachi ordered clothes from the website of the well-known brand on December 1, worth more than Rs 5,000. On December 4, a private courier company delivered the order, but when the parcel was opened, a sack of flour was found instead of clothes.

The citizen tried to contact the brand’s customer support and email, but received no response.

Later, the citizen approached the court and filed a claim for Rs 200,000 in damages along with the money. The lawyer said that after the legal notice, the brand assured to return the money, but later offered to give a voucher instead of money, to which the citizen expressed dissatisfaction.

The court has ordered the parties to submit their responses by January 31 and the case is expected to be heard soon.
