LAHORE: According to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, fertilizers are in plentiful supply during the Rabi season, and their costs have decreased for the first time.

The chief minister, who chaired an agriculture meeting, stated that Punjab has 30% more DAP fertilizer on hand and that its price has decreased by 17% during the wheat season.

According to Punjab CM, there is a 25% price reduction on a stock of urea fertilizer that is 125% greater than what is needed. More than 82% of the sowing target has been met, and 16.5 million acres of wheat have been planted throughout Punjab.

By December 10, the cultivation target would be accomplished throughout the province, Maryam Nawaz stated.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to improve the wheat storage capacity across the province.

Meanwhile, Punjab Agriculture and Livestock Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani was informed in a meeting that wheat cultivation had been completed on 12 million acres of land across Punjab.

All available resources are being mobilized to reach the cultivation target, according to officials. They claimed that farmers had controlled access to fertilizers.

Under the Chief Minister’s Grow More Wheat Package, farmers who are planting wheat on big areas have been asked to apply online by December 15.

According to the officials, stringent oversight is being carried out to guarantee that high-quality fertilizer and wheat seeds are available in marketplaces.

The minister was notified that 500,000 farmers have had their applications verified out of 1.32 million applications for the Chief Minister’s Kissan Card. 92% of the Rs24 billion worth of agricultural products that have been bought throughout the province using the card have been fertilizers.
