Govt decides to maintain petroleum prices for next 15 days

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has decided to maintain the prices of petroleum products at the current level.

As per the details, PM Shehbaz Sharif has said that while maintaining the prices of petroleum at the previous level, it has been decided to transfer its full financial benefit to the public in the form of electricity prices.

He said that this step is one of the many other measures that will lead to a meaningful reduction in electricity prices.

Regarding electricity prices, Shehbaz Sharif said that a package is being prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electricity prices, the details of which are being finalized.

He said that a package is ready to provide major relief to the public in electricity prices through the financial capacity created by the difference in oil prices in the global market and other measures.

The Prime Minister said that the package regarding the reduction in electricity prices will be announced in the next few weeks. He had pledged to prioritize public relief as soon as he took office.

The Prime Minister expressed his determination to provide relief and more convenience to the public in the form of reduction in electricity rates in the next few weeks.

He said that this relief will not only reduce electricity prices. It will also have an impact on overall inflation and lead to a further reduction.
