KARACHI: According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the price of kerosene oil is now at Rs467.48 per litre due to an increase of Rs34.08 per litre from its old price of Rs433.40.

This decision came after the decision to increase other fuels in the petroleum product category in view of volatility in the global oil market and regional geopolitics.

Authorities have followed the same strategy of keeping domestic rates in line with global rates and, hence, making several adjustments to prices.

It was reported that this hike would cause a substantial increase in the expenses of families using kerosene oil as a main source of heating and cooking, particularly in remote and cold regions.

The price hikes come after recent substantial hikes in the prices of petrol and diesel fuels. Experts have raised concerns over the effects that continued price hikes in the petroleum products may cause on the economy and the inflation rate.

No action has been taken by the authorities regarding offering relief to the consumers facing the problem of rising expenses in their monthly budgets.
