ISLAMABAD: The Digital petrol monitoring system has been introduced at 12000 fuel stations throughout Pakistan to create better fuel distribution transparency.

The government has obtained 24000 portable devices to support the nationwide implementation. The system enables authorities to monitor both sales data and inventory status throughout the day.

This platform connects directly to the digital system used by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The system tracks all transactions, which include imported and domestically produced petroleum products.

The officials established the digital petrol monitoring system at 12000 stations because they want to stop fraud, hoarding, and smuggling operations.

The Ministry of IT, together with NITB, is currently providing training to staff at these stations. The Prime Minister’s Youth Program volunteer group is currently helping with the training process.

The system provides real-time fuel monitoring to detect any illegal fuel supply distribution. The government has decided to implement a fuel quota system, which will apply to every citizen in the country.

The government plans to establish petrol purchase limits for vehicle owners through a mobile application system. The system prohibits users from buying fuel beyond their allocated digital quota. The mobile application has completed its testing phase.

The government will announce the quota system implementation date to the public in the near future. At every gas station throughout the country, customers must use an application to confirm their fuel purchases. The digital transition represents a significant shift for Pakistani energy management practices.
