ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has announced the opening of gas connections for domestic consumers across the country, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people.

Addressing a ceremony to restore domestic gas connections in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that now new connections of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) will be issued for domestic consumers across the country.

The Prime Minister said that when the PDM government came to power in 2022, the country was facing many kinds of pressure. Due to gas shortage, it was not possible to provide new connections and every applicant had to be apologized to.

Shehbaz Sharif said that at that time the gas infrastructure had been prepared, pipelines had been laid, but gas was not available. He said that now, after the situation improved, it has become possible to issue gas connections for domestic consumers.

The Prime Minister said that millions of applications have been received, and today is a day of joy for the people.

He said that this initiative is part of the same continuity that began during the rule of Mian Nawaz Sharif, when darkness and prolonged load shedding were eliminated from across the country in 2013.
