LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has quoted the price of the AMI single-phase smart meter at Rs. 14,786, without General Sales Tax (GST), which will be levied separately.

The Material Management Department has written a formal letter to the Director of Customer Services before releasing the purchase order, company officials have told. The letter has notified concerned departments about the approved price of the smart meter.

The warning also indicated that cable charges will be charged as per the rate list published by the Regional Store Manager’s office.

Officials added that with the price revision, the value of the demand notice of consumers applying for new single-phase smart meter installations is also likely to be higher.

Sources indicated that customers can now have to pay almost Rs. 20,000 in total for the installation of a single-phase smart meter after factoring in taxes and other expenses.

LESCO currently outsources the process of purchasing single-phase smart meters to third-party suppliers.
