ISLAMABAD: Murree Brewery has begun exporting beer to non-Muslim countries after obtaining official approval from the government.
This makes the company’s entry into international markets after decades for the first time.
Due to the current minimal export volume, the company aims to create a dedicated export department to explore more international markets.
Murree’s non-alcoholic exports continue to outpace its alcoholic beer exports, with a monthly run rate of around $30,000.
The business estimates that it will take three to four years to have a significant impact in the fiercely competitive global beer industry.
Only Murree Brewery is eligible for the government’s export license; no other domestic or international brewers doing business in Pakistan have received the same authorization.
The excise authority has also permitted Murree Brewery to raise prices by 10% to 15%.
The firm made capital expenditures of Rs. 1.5 billion in FY25, which included installing a new glass furnace, an effort that is usually undertaken every ten years.
Murree Brewery remained profitable in Q1 FY2026, reporting a profit of Rs. 960 million, up from Rs. 914 million in the same time the previous year, despite a temporary three-day production stoppage brought on by political disturbance.
