National Economic Council expected to convene in 2nd week of June

ISLAMABAD: The National Economic Council (NEC) meeting has been scheduled for June 9th, 2025, here on Monday.

As per the media reports, during the meeting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is expected to brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the upcoming budget.

The NEC is set to approve the contours of the budget for the next fiscal year (FY2025- 26), including the development budget. Sources indicate that partnerships under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model will also be approved.

Furthermore, the NEC is expected to greenlight the five-year planning framework. Key economic targets for the upcoming fiscal year will be deliberated and approved, including the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth target, as well as specific growth targets for the agriculture and industrial sectors.

The council will also finalize targets for the services sector, exports, imports, and remittances for the next fiscal year.
