ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity tariffs throughout Pakistan, including Karachi, by Rs1.42 per unit through its latest monthly adjustment, which was announced on Thursday.

The February 2026 monthly adjustment will establish a new rate increase, which customers will see on their electricity bills for April, but the utility company will collect during the present billing period.

The notification states that the increase will affect all customers throughout the nation, including K-Electric customers, because it follows government regulations.

The increase will not affect lifeline customers and electric vehicle charging stations. The NEPRA established its final decision after completing the February adjustment hearing and issuing the official announcement.

The recent price increase follows a previous electricity price adjustment from January, which raised electricity costs by Rs1.63 per unit.

The successive increases add to the burden on consumers already grappling with rising utility costs because monthly adjustments continue to create electricity tariff changes throughout the country.
