The diesel and petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by Rs 4-11 per liter for the next fortnight (February 16).
According to the sources privy to the development, this hike may come in because of exchange rate adjustments and increases in international prices.
However, in the absence of the exchange rate adjustment, the petrol price is expected to rise Rs1.97 per litre, reaching Rs274.86 per litre from Rs272.89.
Furthermore, diesel prices without exchange adjustments are predicted to rise from Rs278.96 to Rs288.16 per liter, an increase of Rs9.20.

If the dollar-rupee exchange rate is not changed, the price of kerosene is also expected to increase by Rs1.57 per liter, to Rs188.19 per litre from Rs186.62 per litre. Additionally, the price of Light Diesel Oil (LDO) could increase by Rs3.73 per liter, from Rs168.86 to Rs170.59.
Even though the rupee strengthened during this time, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) still had to pay a huge import premium on petroleum products due to the rise in the global market. Accordingly, the cost of HSD is expected to rise by Rs 9-11 per litre.
