ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has received $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan confirmed that it had received $1.3 billion, saying that the transfer was under the VFF and RSF programs.
Pakistan’s central bank said that the IMF Executive Board had approved the disbursement of this tranche in the approval of the third review on May 8.
The IMF Executive Board approved 760 million SDRs for Pakistan, and the second tranche of 154 million SDRs was also approved under the RSF program.
The State Bank has received a total of 914 million SDRs. The amount received will not be in Pakistani rupees but will be included in foreign exchange reserves. This amount will be reflected in the foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 15, 2026. Receiving IMF funds will support Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.
A total of $4.6 billion has been released to Pakistan under the current program. Pakistan took the EFF program for 37 months in September 2024.
