Petrol prices likely to increase in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: There is a possibility that the prices of petrol and diesel will increase per liter. A summary regarding the profits of oil marketing companies and dealers has been sent to the Economic Coordination Committee, which will decide on the profits of oil marketing companies and dealers. On account of these profits, prices of petrol and diesel can increase by as much as Rs 2.40 per liter.

It has been proposed that the profit of oil marketing companies and dealers be enhanced by Rs 1.10 to Rs 1.28 per litre. The oil marketing companies’ profit at present is Rs 7.87 a litre for petrol, while the profit of Rs 7.87 a litre has been maintained for diesel.

Dealers earn a commission of Rs 8.64 per liter on petrol and diesel. After approval from the Economic Coordination Committee and a nod from the federal cabinet, the increase will take place.
