ISLAMABAD: A significant reduction in the power crisis has been seen across the country due to improved weather conditions and increased water release from dams.

According to official sources, the power shortfall, which had earlier reached 6500 MW, has now reduced to only 3000 MW, after which power load shedding has been reduced to zero in the Islamabad region.

Due to the increase in water release from dams by the Indus River System Authority (IRSA), the production of hydropower (Hydel) has increased to 3400 MW.

Due to this positive change, power load shedding has been completely eliminated (zero) in the federal capital Islamabad and its surroundings.

According to the latest data on power generation and demand, power generation from hydropower sources in the country has reached 3400 MW.

Similarly, thermal power plants are generating 8,000 MW, solar 350 MW, nuclear power plants 2,880 MW, Beas Power Plant 80 MW, while wind power plants are generating 1,300 MW.

At present, the total electricity production is 16,010 MW, while the total electricity demand is 19,000 MW.
