Prices of poultry, ghee surge in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: The poultry meat rate has surged to Rs 680 per kilogram in Bahawalpur ahead of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

According to sources, chicken meat was sold on Monday for Rs 680 per kg after selling out on Sunday for Rs 619 per kg. The shopkeepers dealing with the business of the sale of poultry meat said that poultry meat was likely to surge more on Eid-Ul-Fitr.

“To increase their revenue during Eid days, wholesaler poultry suppliers have raised the price of poultry meat in markets,” a shopkeeper stated.

Beef is also being sold at Rs 900 to 1,100 per kg while mutton is being sold at Rs 1,800 to 2,000.

It is worth mentioning here that tomatoes are selling at Rs 100 per kg a few days back and have jumped to Rs 200 per kg ahead of two days of Eid-Ul-Fitr which is likely to fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Banaspati ghee was sold out at Rs 440 per kilogram which earlier, was sold out at Rs 430 per kilogram.

Cooking oil was sold out at Rs 450 to 550 per kilogram per different varieties.
