Punjab’s flour costs have plummeted, with flour mills cutting the price of a 20 kilogram bag by Rs. 200.

This reduction comes after another Rs. 80 from last week, making a total of Rs. 280 in less than 8 days.

In Punjab supermarkets, 20 kilogram flour sacks from various brands are currently priced between Rs. 2400 and Rs. 2565.

The price of private flour has significantly dropped in comparison to that of government flour, which is fixed at Rs. 2790 for a 20 kg bag and Rs. 1399 for a 10 kilogram bag.

The drop in open market wheat prices is the reason for the decline in private flour prices. A new batch of indigenous wheat from Karachi arrived in Lahore at a reduced price of Rs. 4025, despite the food department setting the selling price of wheat for flour mills at Rs. 4700 per maund.

Punjab’s new wheat is likely to hit the market shortly, with a price tag of about Rs. 3500. Punjab has stopped buying imported wheat which costs Rs. 4,000from Karachi to Lahore.

Following the instructions of Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Food Authority has made sure that the screening process is impenetrable.

Items in care packages during Ramadan are inspected for quality in order to keep citizens from receiving bad products.

With the use of contemporary technology, every bag is traced, reducing the possibility that bad goods would reach consumers.
