LAHORE: The Punjab budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented in the Punjab Assembly today, as all the proposals have been finalized.

According to details, government employees’ salaries and pensions are likely to increase by 7%.

Provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman will present the budget document in the house. This budget includes a comprehensive roadmap for the development of the province, public welfare, and new development projects.

According to the budget documents, there is a strong possibility of a 7% increase in the salaries and pensions of Punjab government employees on the model of the federal government.

Huge funds are being allocated in the budget for the province’s development programs and important sectors, in which special attention will be given to ongoing and new schemes in the education, health, infrastructure (roads and communications) and social sector.

The biggest relief for the public is that no new tax proposal has been included in this budget. The government’s focus will be on expanding the tax net and accelerating economic activity.
