ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has released a new grading formula for examination results.
These grades will be implemented for the Matriculation (SSC) examinations from 2026 and for the FA, FSC (HSSC) examinations from 2027.
According to the notification issued, under the new system, students who score 96 to 100 percent marks will be given an A++ grade, while those who score 91 to 95 percent marks will be given an A+ grade.
Similarly, an A grade has been fixed for 86 to 90 percent marks, a B++ grade for 81 to 85 percent, and a B+ grade for those who score 76 to 80 percent marks.
It has been further informed that a B grade will be given for 71 to 75 percent marks, C+ for 61 to 70 percent, and a C grade for those who score 51 to 60 percent marks.
Students who score between 40 and 50 percent will be declared as D (Emerging) grade, and students who score less than 40 percent will be declared as “Ungraded”.
The notification also states that unsuccessful students will be eligible to re-sit the examination, provided they fulfill other prescribed conditions.
According to the Federal Board, the new grading system has been developed to assess the performance of students as per international standards, so as to make educational assessment more transparent and comprehensive.
