ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced fresh dates for its General Recruitment Test Phase-I/2026 after the exams were postponed last week.

According to a public notice issued on April 27, the tests were originally scheduled from April 25 to May 6 but have now been rescheduled from May 9 to May 20, 2026.

The commission said that the admission certificates and updated timetable for registered candidates will be uploaded by May 2.

Candidates have been advised to check the FPSC website regularly for further updates. The commission has also shared helpline numbers for clarification during working hours.

While the notice explains the postponement as administrative reasons, the revised schedule comes at a time when the capital is under strict arrangements linked to the second round of the proposed Islamabad peace talks between the US and Iran.

The talks were expected to take place in Islamabad last week as part of Pakistan’s efforts to keep diplomatic channels open after the first round earlier this month. However, the second round did not officially go ahead as planned when a planned visit by senior US envoys was cancelled at the last minute.

Nevertheless, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi visited Islamabad and met with Pakistani officials as mediation efforts continued.
