ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved the updated national curriculum framework, which will decrease academic stress for young students while providing education that links to their everyday experiences.
The technical committee approved the proposal on Tuesday, which specifically serves students between nursery and grade two. Officials confirmed that students who are just beginning their educational path face too many academic requirements, which create unnecessary difficulty for their first school experiences.
Nadeem Mahbub, who serves as the Federal Secretary for Education, announced that the scheme remains unfinished because it requires additional consultations before implementation.
He explained that joint surveys conducted by federal and provincial authorities revealed that the current curriculum structure places undue stress on early-grade students, affecting their learning experience.
The government plans to bring back civic education through a new social sciences subject, which will serve as the main component for educational reforms.
The revised curriculum will also teach essential life safety skills, climate awareness, and financial literacy to help students develop skills for handling real-life situations.
The Ministry of Education plans to implement the new syllabus during the next academic year. Officials confirmed that there is consensus between the federal and provincial governments on the overall direction of these proposed changes.
The technical committee held its third session to examine the draft, which included representatives from Islamabad and all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
