LAHORE: In a recent development, the government of Punjab has decided to appoint 12,000 temporary teachers for public schools in the province.
This new initiative will take the total number of School Teacher Interns (STIs) in the province’s educational institutions to 24,000. The program is designed to fill the gap in teaching staff in government schools.
The provincial education minister has said that contracts of STIs appointed last year will also be extended.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally approved the new recruitment plan, and a formal notice calling for applications will soon be released.
According to the scheme, the newly employed teachers will be posted on a four-month contractual basis. They will be paid a monthly wage of up to Rs. 45,000.
