KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has announced that Wednesday, September 10, 2025, is a public holiday in all schools and colleges in Karachi Division.

The announcement is for both government and private institutions and was confirmed in the form of a notification by the Commissioner of Karachi.

The move comes on a weather alert issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, which predicted heavy rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Karachi. The authorities said the step was taken for the safety of the students, teachers, and employees on an uncertain weather day.

All schools and educational institutions in the division are shut down. Today’s examinations will be rescheduled, and new dates will be notified by the corresponding boards and institutions.

Karachi has witnessed repeated interruptions throughout the monsoon season this year as urban flooding and traffic jams posed dangers for passengers. Today’s precautionary shutdown is aimed at preventing hazards due to adverse weather.

The government announced that it will remain closely vigilant on the weather situation. Any further notification regarding school timings will be released if heavy rains continue in the days ahead.
