ISLAMABAD: In a recent educational development, the Hungary government has announced 400 fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students during a recent visit to Pakistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar hosted Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in Pakistan and welcomed an opportunity to increase cooperation between the two countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister referred to Hungary as a “positive and beneficial friend” of Pakistan and expressed appreciation for Hungary’s contributions to Pakistan’s industrial sector, mentioning, for example, establishing partnerships like the Mughal Group that has allowed over 100 people to receive skills training in the areas of trade and industry.
The two countries executed several bilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that will strengthen cooperation between them in trade and industry.
Topics include regional challenges and issues, such as the situation in Gaza and the security concerns facing Pakistan from Afghanistan. Dar referred to ongoing diplomacy between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the Hungarian response was positive.
This visit was momentous, as both countries celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations. The Hungarian Foreign Minister voiced the need for both countries to further deepen their relationships, including in trade, industry, and culture, while also identifying a few shared traits. This is expected to further bring the countries closer together through more cooperation and understanding.
