RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have been arrested near Adiala Jail by Rawalpindi Police, according to media reports.
The PTI leadership gathered in front of the prison demanding a meeting with the imprisoned Prime Minister Imran Khan as per jail manual.
The PTI leaders, as well as Imran Khan’s three sisters, were present at the plaza under construction on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi. Omar Ayub, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, was detained with Niazullah Niazi, Ahmed Bachar, Zartaj Gul, Sunni Ittehad Council president Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and other leaders of the party.
According to reports, the warrants were presented for Imran Khan’s sisters, cousin Qasim Zaman Khan, and several key PTI figures, including Ahmed Bachchar and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.
The PTI leaders sought to oppose the arrests, resulting in a tense confrontation with police officers. Despite the opposition, police maintained their position, declaring unequivocally: “We will arrest all of them.” The PTI leaders were then taken into custody and brought to a police van.
The atmosphere outside Adiala Jail remains heated, with party activists, officials, and family members seeking open and lawful access to the PTI founder.
Earlier this month, Imran Khan’s three sisters were taken into custody and later freed.
