ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of severe weather conditions in several regions of Punjab, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, on April 18 and 19.
Heavy rain, hail, and strong winds are expected to occur in many areas across the province, including Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura.
The NDMA warned that there will likely be power outages with the strong winds and rain, along with potential injury or accidents as a result of careless behaviour during poor weather conditions.
The NDMA suggested that the farmers take action to minimize any negative impact on crops. The NDMA also suggested limiting non-essential travelling and always remaining up to date and aware of warnings, utilizing the NDMA Disaster Alert mobile app.
Furthermore, people should avoid weak buildings and trees in the event of storms and strong winds. The NDMA has monitored the situation and intends to lessen the effects of these severe weather conditions.
Proactively take action to safeguard the public and reduce the effects of unexpected weather on public infrastructure and farmers’ crops.
