PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the ‘Ilm Packet Program’ to increase school enrollment and quality education in the Province.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department, 80,000 children from 8 districts will be enrolled in schools, including Battagram, Mansehra, Swabi, Buner, Shangla, Khyber, Mohmand, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Under the program, teachers will also be trained in schools in selected districts. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that under the program, special attention will be given to girls, poor children, and minority children.
He said that the required funds have also been provided to provide facilities to children in schools, and an educational emergency has been imposed in the current year’s budget.
The Chief Minister said that 21 percent of the budget has been allocated for primary and secondary education during the current financial year, and the target is to enroll 1 million children in schools during the academic year.
Earlier, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) management issued the latest criteria for registration of students under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif cash transfer programme.
Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is a Conditional Cash Transfer Programme for the education of children of BISP active Kafalat beneficiaries up to higher secondary level. Through additional cash incentives, beneficiaries are motivated to get their children enrolled in schools/colleges and discourage the dropout rate by ensuring retention.
