PESHAWAR: In a recent development, the High Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the extension in winter vacations for the colleges and universities due to the persisting cold wave in the country.

Thus, all public and private educational institutions shall reopen on January 5, 2025. The interval will be a relief for students, who were at first to be back to classes by December 31. The extension, possibly to curb the harsh blowing of the winds in the region, will help students.

The extension of winter vacations will now also apply to schools in the plains provinces, as announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department. The new directives stipulate that classes will recommence on January 6, while they were previously expected after January 1.

It’s worth noting that as of December 23, schools in mountainous regions have already been closed and are scheduled to reopen until February 29, 2025. The extension of winter breaks is a very wise decision seeing as it would guarantee the safety and well-being of students and staff.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s extension of holidays is not an isolated case. Provinces like Punjab have also announced an extension in winter vacations.

Punjab extends Winter Vacations

In Punjab also, the holidays have been extended. The schools will remain closed till January 9, and classes will resume on January 10. It is more of a respite for students so that they can relish their days off in a little more better way so that they can recharge before the new semester commences.

To sum it all, the extension of winter vacations is surely a welcome call for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the students would relish longer holidays now.

Although with the various decisions regarding extension in vacations, the case speaks of dedication shown by the governments to the well-being of their students.
