NAMAL university removes Imran Khan as Board Chairperson

MIANWALI: The official announcement of the decision occurred through an official notification, which received reference number NUM/REG/BOG/2026‑04 on January 22, 2026.

The Board of Governors of the Namal Education Foundation (NEF) appointed the new board member after their 45th meeting, which took place on December 13 2025.

The notification states that Mr. Walid Iqbal will now function as Chairperson according to Sub-section (1)(a) of Section 18 of the Namal University Mianwali Act 2021. The university implemented this leadership transition according to all statutory requirements established by the Namal University Act 2021, which took effect immediately.

The board, which governs university operations and management, now prepares to operate under the leadership of Walid Iqbal, a prominent Pakistani lawyer, senator, and academic.

The leadership of NAMAL University has undergone a major transformation since Imran Khan established the university in 2008. The university developed into a leading private educational institution that provides high-quality education to students in Mianwali and nearby areas throughout Pakistan.
