CM Punjab Free Laptop Scheme announced for Private Students
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will officially start the distribution of laptops under the CM Punjab Laptop Program 2025 today, May 14, in Faisalabad.
A ceremony for the distributions will take place at the Government College, Faisalabad, as the provincial government is targeting the empowerment of Youth while aiming to bridge the digital gap.
The chief minister will be giving out laptops featuring a 13th Gen Core i7 processor, an SSD, and high-speed RAM to students to start the distribution process. The government is planning to distribute a total of 110,000 laptops in phases across the Punjab.
The Phase 1 selected candidates’ lists are live on the official website. To see if you were selected in Phase 1, go to this link. The laptop will be provided free of cost to eligible BS (1st & 2nd Semester) students in all Public Sector HED Colleges, Universities, Medical & Dental Colleges.
Private college students are not eligible to apply for this scheme. The objectives of the initiative are educational uplift, digital inclusiveness, skill development, and economic empowerment of the youth of the province.
The Higher Education Department has recently announced that it is collaborating with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for biometric verification of applicants to keep transparency in the free laptop scheme.
NADRA has started providing the services at e-Sahulat Centres from April 24, while HEC will be paying for the thumb verification. The Commission has directed the educational institutions to ensure contact biometric verification of the students who applied for the free laptop.
