LAHORE: In a recent educational development, the Punjab Education Department (PED)has shared a schedule for conducting educational activities, annual examinations, and a fresh admission policy for the Rawalpindi division from January 15 to May 31.
It has been proposed that the new academic year 2025-2026 will commence on April 1, with admissions into junior preparatory classes, nursery classes, and other early grades beginning on February 3.

The annual examination schedule will begin with the Matriculation exams on March 4, followed by Class IX exams on March 21, and the Intermediate exams in the first week of May.
The admissions in Government schools will be conducted in two phases, the first phase will commence from 1 April to 31 May for classes I and II, while the second phase will start from 15 August to 31 October for additional intakes.
Annual exams for classes I to VIII will be held from March 12 to March 25, with results announced on March 31. To manage enrollments of new entrants, 10% of seats will be made available for each standard out of total student capacity.
Private schools, however, will carry out their new admissions starting from February 1, and their annual examinations will be conducted in February, with the new academic year commencing in March, says Abrar Ahmad Khan, the president of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association.
This new timetable will, however, shed some light and structure on the educational calendar in the Rawalpindi division, and it will interesting to see how the situation unfolds in the coming months.
