LAHORE: In a relief to students and teachers, the Punjab government has announced two weekly holidays in schools across the province.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat declared Saturday as a weekly holiday, adding that the schools will now remain closed for two days a week.
Taking on X, the Education Minister said that the decision has been taken to provide relief to the teachers’ community in the province. “Teachers are serving the nation and we must take care of them”.
He added that the decision of two weekly holidays was taken due to the excessive workload on teachers. He further said that the school’s timings however will be increased from Monday to Friday so the decision would not affect the education of the students.
After the summer vacations, all schools in Punjab will observe two holidays on weekends, the Education Minister announced, adding that the government aimed to provide relief to teachers.
After the announcement of two holidays per week, the Punjab government has decided to extend the school timings for the remaining days (Monday-Friday). The government has yet to issue the schedule for school timings in Punjab.
