LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Public Schools Reorganisation Programme (PSRP), outsourcing approximately 14,000 government schools to improve education quality.

The first phase will see 5,800 schools outsourced, aiming to save Rs. 40 billion and create employment opportunities for 70,000 educated youth.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that outsourcing was undertaken on merit, ensuring the Punjab government maintains control over curriculum and monitoring.

The program will upgrade schools from five to eight classes, introduce themes to nurture children’s talents, and promote sports development. Transport facilities will be provided for girls’ educational institutions, and zebra crossings will be installed near schools for safety.

The CM stressed that education is close to her heart, and the program is a sacred responsibility, not a business proposition. She believes government school children have immense potential and, with adequate facilities, can compete with private school students.

To address concerns, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif mentioned that dozens of applications were received for each school, and well-known school chains also applied.

Moreover, to ensure accessibility and safety, transport facilities will be provided for girls’ educational institutions, and zebra crossings will be installed near schools.

This move will improve education quality and provide a secure environment for students to learn and grow. By implementing these changes, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif aims to bridge the gap between government and private schools, enabling government school students to compete on an equal footing.
