Punjab updates 9th grade syllabus, offers English & Urdu versions

LAHORE: The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has approved a new syllabus of seven books for the ninth grade.

Moreover, the books will be available in English and Urdu medium and students will have the option to choose either of them. Earlier, the syllabus for the ninth grade was published only in English.

Reports have said that the board has made changes in the syllabus of Urdu, English and Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science.

The Punjab Textbook Board has informed educational institutions and boards about the change in the books.

The annual examination for the ninth-grade students in 2026 will be based on the new syllabus.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Education Department has released the schedule of annual examinations, academic activities and new admission policy of Rawalpindi Division.

The new academic year for 2025-26 will start from April 1, while admissions for the grades will open on February 3.

BISE Lahore Matric Exams 2025

According to the announcement, the matriculation exams will begin from March 4, 2025, and the Class 9 exams will begin from March 21, 2025. The Intermediate exams will begin from the first week of May.

The annual examinations for classes 1 to 8 will be held from March 12 to 25, with the results to be declared on March 31, 2025. Each class will be allowed to admit up to 10 percent of the total student capacity, while limiting the number of new admissions in government schools.

The announcement aims to streamline better management of student enrollment in public and private institutions in the region.
