RAWALPINDI: Schools and colleges in the Rawalpindi Division, comprising districts of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, and Chakwal, are set to reopen and resume normal classes from Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
This decision follows a notification issued by the Environment Protection Agency, exempting schools in the Rawalpindi division from the earlier closure orders due to smog.
The Punjab government had initially ordered the closure of schools until November 24 due to worsening smog conditions.
However, a recent rain spell has cleared up the smog in the Rawalpindi divisions, prompting the decision to reopen schools. As a result, all students and staff are required to ensure their physical presence and online classes will no longer be in effect.
Notably, schools in Murree were already exempt from the closure and had remained operational. The decision to reopen schools in the Rawalpindi Division is expected to bring relief to students, parents, and educators, who had been affected by the earlier closure.
