Schools in THESE areas closed amid heavy rainfall

MUZAFFARABAD: Schools throughout northern Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will remain closed for two days because of dangerous snowfall and extreme cold temperatures, which required authorities to issue the school closure order.

Azad Kashmir students will go back to school on Monday, January 26, which provides them with an extended break from school. The high-altitude areas, which include Hattian Bala, Chunari, and Chakothi, Lipa Valley, Ganga Choti, Arang Kel and Sargan Valley, experience snow that falls at irregular intervals.

The lower regions of the area experience heavy rainfall, while the snowstorm created problems for daily activities because it blocked roads and left tourists stranded.

Two individuals died in two different accidents, which resulted in their tragic deaths. Balochistan experiences severe weather conditions. The Quetta-Ziarat Highway and N-50 highways are experiencing vehicle blockages, while more than 100 tourists are stuck in Chaman.

The Tirah Valley area has 100 vehicles that cannot move, while Kojak Top reached a temperature of -12°C. Heavy snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa impacts the regions of Mansehr, Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Malakand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitra,l and Khyber. Khyber district authorities reported that 100 vehicles became stuck in the area but rescue teams managed to save 35 individuals.

Gilgit-Baltistan is currently experiencing extreme snowfall. All ground routes in Upper Astore became blocked by 2-3 feet of snow, which fell in the area. Both Hunza and Nagar experience heavy snowfall, which interrupts normal activities for both residents and visitors. The authorities are advising all local residents and tourists to stay at home until the conditions become safe again.
