PESHAWAR: The education administration in the Upper Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has ordered to close down all public and private schools for three days due to the worsening law and order situation in the area.

The main Parachinar-Tal road has been closed for 17 days, causing a severe shortage of essential items like food, fuel, LPG, and medicines in Parachinar.

Even necessities like sugar are unavailable. The lack of petrol has forced all public and private schools in Upper Kurram to close temporarily.

The situation is dire, with the All Teachers Association stating that this shutdown is disrupting the education system. Students have announced a protest scheduled for tomorrow in response to the situation.

To make matters worse, 3G and 4G services have been suspended for the past three weeks, making it challenging for students to attend online classes.

The tribal district of Kurram is facing significant challenges due to the deteriorating law and order situation. The main highway connecting Parachinar to Peshawar has been closed for two weeks, preventing patients from receiving medical attention in Peshawar and causing a shortage of medicines locally.

The road closures were triggered by a firing incident on a government convoy on October 12, resulting in 15 casualties.

The ongoing crisis in Upper Kurram has brought daily life to a standstill. The region’s instability has far-reaching consequences, affecting not only education but also healthcare and economic activity. The situation remains volatile, with no clear resolution in sight.
