KARCHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced the digitalization of all educational institutions, including schools under the education department in the province.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah regarding school education in which it was decided that the attendance of teachers and students will be digitalized through facial recognition technology.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah said that the school administration will be given administrative authority. The government will provide direct funds to each headmaster, which will enable them to improve their respective schools.
The Sindh government has decided to give autonomy to schools, which will enable them to manage their expenses independently. Each school will have its own budget, which will enable them to make financial decisions without depending on external authorities.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah said that currently there are 36,300 primary schools and 2,600 elementary schools in Sindh. He said that the government’s aim is to bridge the gap between primary and elementary schools in the province.
Earlier in September 2024, the Ministry of Education had informed the National Assembly that more than 26.2 million children in Pakistan are out of school.
According to the details submitted by the Education Department to the National Assembly, a total of 26260520 children in the country are deprived of education.
The report further stated that more than 17 million children between the ages of 5 and 9 are not enrolled in school. Similarly, about 4.9 million children between the ages of 10 and 12 in Pakistan are deprived of middle school education and are out of school.
Furthermore, more than 2.1 million boys and about 2.8 million girls are deprived of middle school education. The report submitted to the National Assembly further stated that 4.5 million children in the country are deprived of high school education.
According to the report, 5.9 million students are deprived of upper secondary education. With 2,620,520 children out of school nationwide, the report drew attention to the staggering number of children who are missing out on education.
