Sindh relaxes schools uniform policy for harsh winters

KARACHI: Due to the ongoing cold wave across Sindh, the provincial education minister has instructed schools to relax their uniform codes for students. This decision aims to prioritize students’ health and well-being during the harsh winter season.

In compliance with the directive, Rafia Javed, Additional Director from the Directorate of Private Institutions, communicated privately to all schools through an official circular.

It reminded recipients of the importance of uniforms’ being a flexible aspect, a time in which children could wear all manner of warm clothing that could provide protection against the cold.

Thus, students throughout Sindh may now wear additional warm clothing like sweaters, blazers, jackets, coats, caps, socks, or shoes of their own choice, according to individual needs and comforts, over and above their usual uniforms. The relaxation shall continue till winter is over.

The circular also asked the schools to be proactive in taking necessary measures to keep the classrooms warm and comfortable for the students during this time. It shows a commitment on the government side for a safe and healthy learning environment for the students.

Winter vacations in schools are scheduled to start on the second week of January, allowing students a break from their academic routines.
