Gul Plaza Tragedy: Sindh govt to pay Rs10m to victims’ families

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced that all the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy will be rehabilitated.

According to the spokesperson, a meeting was chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in which provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Nasir Hussain, Saeed Ghani, the mayor, and others participated.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the provision of assistance to the heirs of those who died in the Gul Plaza tragedy will start from tomorrow.

Murad Ali Shah said that there is great sorrow over the fire in Gul Plaza. The loss of life means that many families have been affected, and all the victims have lost their jobs while running their businesses.

I want to take steps for the rehabilitation of all the victims.

Murad Ali Shah said that I have received repeated calls from President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto.

The PPP leadership wants the traders of Gul Plaza to be rehabilitated immediately, and all the victims of the plaza will be rehabilitated.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that a decision has to be made on how to rehabilitate all the victims. It is being told that there are 1200 shops in Gul Plaza, which means 1200 victims.

He said that the fire in Gul Plaza is a huge incident. Firefighters and rescue personnel are trying to enter from 3 places. 73 people are missing. Efforts are being made to trace the missing people.

In addition, Murad Ali Shah directed the authorities to immediately start the work of removing the debris.

A forensic report of the fire will be prepared to find out how the fire started. He wants to immediately compensate the families of those martyred in the Gul Plaza incident.

According to the spokesperson, the Sindh Chief Minister has formed a committee for the Gul Plaza victims.
