ISLAMABAD: A National Security Committee (NSC) meeting is underway under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to deliberate upon the situation arising after New Delhi’s measures following the Pahalgam attack.

As per details, the meeting is being attended by top military and civilian leadership to give an effective response to India’s actions.

The Modi-led government on Wednesday took several measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, expelling Pakistani nationals, and ordering officials of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi to leave the country within a week.

The Indian action came a day after an attack in Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed at least 26 tourists and injured 17 others when gunmen attacked a popular tourist spot.

The NSC meeting is set to “discuss in detail India’s irresponsible actions after the Pahalgam false flag operation”, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

The meeting is being attended by senior civil and military leadership to deliberate upon the “internal and external situation arising after the Pahalgam false flag operation”.

It will review the response to “India’s hastily taken, impulsive and impractical water measures”, the report said, referring to the IWT.

Ahead of the meeting, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and some other ministers had reached the PM House in Islamabad, a Dawn.com correspondent said
