ISLAMABAD: Abbas Araqchi met Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir for the second time in 24 hours during a brief but significant visit to the federal capital.

Araqchi arrived in Islamabad from Muscat on Sunday, having earlier visited Pakistan on Friday night. During his stay, he also held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior officials.

According to sources, the Iranian foreign minister engaged in key discussions with Pakistan’s political and military leadership before departing after a short visit.

As per the Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi presented Iran’s conditions for peace, which included discussions on new rules governing the Strait of Hormuz, lifting blockades, compensation, and non-aggression assurances. The agency clarified that the talks were not related to Iran’s nuclear program.

Following his engagements in Islamabad, Araqchi departed for Moscow, where he is expected to meet Vladimir Putin on Monday.

According to Iran’s ambassador in Moscow, the meeting will focus on consultations regarding ongoing negotiations, the status of the ceasefire, and efforts related to ending the conflict.
